Dragon Staff History
Dragon staffs are a contact staff variety with large, balanced heads on each end. Similar to the straight contact staff, the dragon staff was derived from the Chinese art of Fei-Cha. When spinning the dragon, you’ll find there are some moves that cross over with traditional contact staff moves! The added challenge is that the dragon staff needs to be almost constantly rolled, whether on the arm, chest, back, etc. The heads on the ends of the dragon help give it some weight and assist in a smooth rolling motion. Ancient cultural roots meet a modern innovative prop design with the Spiral Dragon Staff!
