Practice Buugeng
Buugengs are the black sheep of the flow arts world. Almost like a flattened “S” shaped staff, buugengs flow on the fundamentals of illusion. These collapsible Buugengs have a balanced weight and nice dynamic, which make manipulations easier and gives you good control when practicing with your Buugengs. All the edges are rounded. The Buugengs are made of durable and sustainably sourced wood. Buugeng Origins – History of Buugeng
The Buugengs history dates back to the early 1980’s with Juggler Michael Moschen. He would perform with two half circles assembled into an “S” shape. He gained popularity with this new prop design and about 20 years later we saw a new revival with Japanese man Dai Zaobab. He became fascinated with the “S” shape prop design and incorporated his version of the Buugeng with martial arts and fire performances. Zaobab’s Buugeng was boomerang shaped and indicative of the modern Buugeng design. Dai Zaobab was also the first to coin the term Buugeng! “Buu” meaning martial arts. “Geng” meaning illusion.
